Outline explanation

The present building was built in 1922, designed by an American faithful Christian architect, Mr. William Merrell Vories, known as the founder of “The Ohmi Brotherhood” In 1995, the church suffered extensive damages by the great earthquake which hit the Osaka/Kobe and Awaji Island area, but was repaired after 8 months rehabilitation work. In 1996, it was registered in the National Register of Cultural Properties as the Registered Tangible Cultural Properties by The Agency for Cultural Affairs. The structure is typical of a classical church building in Romanesque, with French-red bricks, spacious arch, soaring pinnacles, triangular roof and rose windows (circular rosette)
