Outline explanation

This shrine, which boasts abundant greenery, was selected as one of Osaka’s 100 best green spots. It is named “Otakebi no Miya” after the legend of Emperor Jinmu’s eastern expedition that wounded Itsuse no Mikoto, Jinmu’s older brother as he roared a virile cry. The registered national tangible cultural properties are the worship hall and the votive offering hall, which are the current shrine offices, and feature see-through walls with latticework. The worship hall and the offering hall were built featuring an irimoya-styled (hip-and-gable) roof with copper plates in 1945 by the design of Osaka’s leading architect, Hisakichi Ikedaya. The former worship hall and offering hall were reconstructed as divided prayer halls in 1890. At the time of constructing current shrine precincts, they were relocated and are currently used as offices. Simultaneously, the see-through wall topped by a kirizuma-styled (gable) roof with formal tiles was also built.
