Gallery Saikai(means Reunion) was constructed as Cafe Saikai in 1953. The movie industry was at its height at that time and Shin Sekai thrived as the town of amusement, as Asakusa of Tokyo. It is said that many movie stars have often visited Saikai. Designed by Osamu Ishii who receives the Prize of Architectural Institute of Japan in later years. Saikai is his pro-independence work and his precious work of him can be seen in his younger period. |
