Outline explanation

Tokajyuku is a pioneering facility for children with intellectual disabilities founded in Saikudani, Tennoji-Ku, Osaka-Shi in 1916. The present facility was constructed in 1933 and relocated to its current site in the next year. The Main Building is two-story wooden structure, hipped roofing with base tiles, ketayuki (the length of beam)approkimately 18 meters, harima (the length of crossbeam) approximately 10.8 meters and it has the porch for main entrance with a gabled roof in the southern side. The Classroom Building connected to the Main Building by a passage corridor is flat wooden structure,hipped roofing with base tiles, ketayuki approkimately 18 meters, harima approximately 7.2 meters. Though there are several other buildings on the premises, the Main and Classroom Buidings are designated as nation’s tangible cultural properties.
