Our house is a large store that occupies more than half of one block near the southern end of Tomisuji. The main building is a front-door building, and the storehouse, dry storehouse (tool storehouse), rice storehouse, soy sauce pickle storehouse, etc. are left on the north side. According to the general contract book, the main building was built in the 2nd to 3rd years of the Tenmei period (1782-83), and the three separate rooms leading to the south of the main building and the store on the west side of the main building were also built at the same time. It is a relic that shows the modern mansion. The vents and round roof tiles on the gable roof of the main building are decorated with the family crests of our family, “Sankabishi” and “Tsugi Kashiwa”. The roof of the tatami room, which is a combination of several buildings, is called Yatsumune-zukuri. It is said that Shoin Yoshida and Rai Sanyo also visited our house.
