Outline explanation

This Memorial Hall was built in 1927 to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the founding of Shoin Girls’ High School (now Shoin Gakuen). The exterior finish imitates a stone wall, but the building is a two-story wooden structure with a hipped roof covered with steel plates (originally a copper roof). When it was built, the ground floor contained a library and an office, and the first floor was a large classroom with a capacity of 270 people with a conference room and guest rooms. It is a precious asymmetrical building with a strong Taisho modern atmosphere. This building is one of the symbols of the school.
